Don’t Become a Statistic: Protect Yourself From Scams

Phishing and fraud are not going anywhere. In fact, from 2021 to 2022, the Federal Trade Commission reports a 30% increase in such scams, resulting in consumers nationwide losing nearly $8.8 billion.

Byline Bank wants to make sure you’re not among the thousands of people impacted daily, so we have again partnered with the American Bankers Association on the #BanksNeverAskThat campaign. Read on for some things Byline will never do:

Ask for your personal information

Byline Bank will never call, text or email to ask for your account number, online banking credentials or any other personal details. If you get a suspicious request, call us directly at (773) 244-7000 before providing any account details over the phone.

Ask you to act urgently

Urgency, high-pressure language and scare tactics, especially when it comes to your money, can drive you to act. You always have time to call us directly at (773) 224-7000 to verify that you’re making sound decisions with your finances.

Text or email you suspicious links

All Byline content will be on our site, bylinebank.com. Pro tip: Secure websites start with “https” rather than “http.” The “s” stands for secure. If the s is missing, don’t log in or conduct business on any sites that may not be secure.

Send emails laden with typos

We’re not saying we’ve never had a typo, but poor grammar and strange capitalization choices are tell-tale signs an email was written by a scammer—not your bank.
