A Snapshot of our Time at the Village Tree Lighting and Downtown Holiday Walk
On Friday, November 23, Libertyville branch Byliners joined with hundreds of festive local revelers to ring in the holiday season in old-school style at the Village Tree Lighting. As per tradition, the Lighting featured traditional moments and offerings including holiday carols, the lighting of the tree itself and a Visit from Santa.
The beautiful Ansel B. Cook Mansion was also open for tours and proved to be quite a draw as guests took advantage of the extended hours at local shops who were participating in the annual “Shop Libertyville” evening. Local eateries also offered sustenance to passers-by, and a wonderful holiday spirit pervaded the area.
MainStreet Libertyville was honored to be officially recognized as a national model for historic preservation and economic revitalization, when it won the prestigious Great American Main Street Award in 1997, which recognized its downtown. Downtown Libertyville is now a recognized Historic District, and MainStreet Libertyville works tirelessly to maintain its charm and vibrancy, hosting more than 50 days of area events every year, including Lunch in the Park, the Farmer’s Market, Car Fun on 21, First Fridays and Let’s Wine About Winter.
