Our Night at the Teeter Award Celebration

On May 3rd, Byline joined with other community businesses and civic leaders to support the YMCA of Berwyn-Cicero (better-known as the Pav YMCA) at the annual Teeter Award Celebration at Skylite West Banquets in Berwyn.

The Pav YMCA has served the Chicagoland communities of Berwyn, Cicero, Stickney, Riverside, North Riverside, Forest View and Lyons (probably why they shortened the name!) since 1970. The memory of beloved Berwyn resident Robert W. Teeter has lived alongside the Y’s tenure: the eponymous Award has been presented to community residents who make a difference to the people in their area since 1977. This year, the Award went to Berwyn hometown boy and Chairman of its Board for the Police and Fire Commission, Car Reina, Sr.

Robert W. Teeter himself was no community-service slouch: he was a former teacher at Morton East High School, founded the West Suburban Council of the Boy Scouts of America, was affiliated with the Illinois State Hospital for Handicapped Children and the Chicago YMCA and—among other notable achievements—was not only a member of the Kiwanis, but also composed its National song.

At Byline, we understand this commitment to longtime (and varied) community engagement. Byline has been proud to be a trusted partner in the Chicagoland neighborhoods that we’ve called home for over 100 years. We are honored to serve where our patrons also live, work and play alongside us. We know that it’s in all our best interests to keep our unique and varied communities thriving and to celebrate the folks within them who really are the life-bloods of their corners of Chicagoland. We wouldn’t have it any other way. We love this town.
