Happy to Help at Kids Against Hunger Food Packing 2019—100,000 Meals for the Hungry

On Saturday, March 16th, Byline was proud to be a table sponsor and support the Rotary Club of Winnetka-Northfield and other local North Shore community leaders and institutions including The Volunteer Center and the Winnetka Community House at the 8th annual Kids Against Hunger Food Packing—100,000 Meals for the Hungry project.

This year, more than 500 volunteers from all over the Chicagoland area spent the day at the Winnetka Community House, collating, packing and preparing food-shipment packages destined for starving families in Nicaragua and local food pantries.

Kids Against Hunger’s mission is simple: “Feeding hungry people around the world and around the corner,” and every year both proud local Byliners and supportive residents lead the charge on the North Shore to make sure we’re doing our part. In fact, the packing event at the Winnetka Community House is so popular (especially for local teens, who feel a real connection with the charity and its cause) that space fills up super-quickly and groups (including Byline!) are honored to get to take part in the event.

Omaha-based Kids Against Hunger has over 50 satellite locations across the U.S. and here in Chicagoland, we’re more than happy that we have our Fox Valley location, so that our town’s kids of all ages—including our very own Byliners!—can have a chance to help out at these very special community-based events.

For more than 100 years, Byline has been honored to serve our local residents, in the neighborhoods where we live, work and play. And when we think about the people living in the communities that these types of events help in particular, we’re truly proud that we can add something positive and give back to the people who truly inspire us. It’s like we always say: we love this town.
