Our Day Packing 100,000 Meals for the Hungry

On Saturday, March 14, Byline joined with the Rotary Club of Winnetka-Northfield, The Volunteer Center and the Winnetka Community House and other local North Shore community leaders and institutions to support the 10th annual Kids Against Hunger Food Packing—100,000 Meals for the Hungry project.

This year, more than 500 volunteers from all over the Chicagoland area spent the day at the Winnetka Community House, collating, packing, and preparing food-shipment packages destined for hungry and starving families in Nicaragua and local food pantries.

Kids Against Hunger’s mission is simple: “Feeding hungry people around the world and around the corner,” and every year both proud local Byliners and supportive residents lead the charge on the North Shore to make sure everyone does their part. In fact, the Packing event at the Winnetka Community House is so popular (especially for local teens, who feel a real connection with the charity and its cause) that space fills up super-quickly and groups (including Byline!) are honored to get a chance to participate in the event.

We understand this commitment to community engagement. Byline has been proud to be a trusted partner in the Chicagoland neighborhoods that we’ve called home for over 100 years. We are honored to serve where our patrons also live, work and play right alongside us. We know that it’s in all our best interests to keep our unique and varied communities thriving. It’s like we always say: we love this town.
